Printing

For the past couple of days I've been busy printing for the exhibition I'm showing some work in starting this thursday.
The theme of the exhibition is secrets, so I've based my work on the novel The Secret Garden and painted a bunch of flowers.
This is probably the most ambitious print I've done so far since leaving university as it was 8 colours onto silk, but it worked suprisingly well and I'm really happy with how is looks so far.
I've still got a bit more printing to do and then have to get them framed... cutting a it a bit fine as always.
Anyway, here are some photos of me printing, hungover in a freezing cold studio with 3 jumpers on. So naturally, I look incredible.
The exhibition starts on this thursday 25th November until Saturday 27th at The Red Lion in Hoxton Square, London. There are a bunch of us showing all different stuff so it should be pretty good.

Hogwarts Hogroast

Doing an invite for a 21st Harry Potter themed party.

The owl will have slits cut either side of it's beak and a card with all the info for the night will be stuck underneath as if it's holding it.

Pretty genius I know...

Print Club

As it's the only way I get any work done, I decided to enter the recent competition for Print Club London to design and print a poster with a glow in the dark element.
I heard about the competition the day before the deadline so did this in one evening. I also learnt how to do perspective (badly) in this same evening, so I'm pretty unsure of the whole drawing as it's nothing like anything I've ever done or attempted to do before.
Obviously, I didn't get in, but at least I sort of learnt how to draw stars on a ceiling with my mum talking me through it on the phone.
Glow-in-the-dark stars on a ceiling was the fanciest thing I could think of to do with glow in the dark ink.....oops

Granny painting

I've been working on a new idea for an exhibition that I'm possibly going to be in. I'm not quite sure exactly how I'm going to make it work but it'll be super cool if it does go to plan. Here's the beginning stages.....
I will update when I've got somewhere with it!

Goodwood

Here's the dress that Kay at ClothKitsmade out of the fabric that I designed for them.
I think she's done a brillo job, I love the shape and it was perfect for the Vintage festival. Apparently it got a lot of attention and good feedback, although it was probably mainly from me...... Thanks Kay!

So I won the competition! if you go to this link you can see the final design and the nice things that the lady at cloth kits said about me.

I didn't have a picture for this post so I put a picture of what I had for dinner. Which is in my top 5 favourite dinners of the moment.

YAY I WON!

Printy bint

I've been working on a textile print design for a competition set by clothkits to design a modern fabric designed in a vintage style for the launch of Vintage at Goodwood event at Goodwood racecourse this summer.
I have a close association with Goodwood as my dad invented commentary through headphones at Goodwood in the 80s and so I was really interested to enter this competition with a textile design based on the events I have seen there throughout the years; Horse racing, vintage cars and aviation. All the images are hand-drawn by me and then coloured digitally.

Anyway, enough blabbing, here is my entry:
