I managed to get some printing done yesterday and tried out a two colour print of the tying the knot design. This was just a small run as it was a bit of a trial, but I think it doesn't look too bad! I'm going to have a go again and make it a bit more colourful I think.....

We've been very busy at Ryantown HQ and I've neglected my work a little. Rob Ryan has just opened a brilliant show at Charleston Gallery and its well worth a visit, we had a lot of fun making all the stuff in the gallery and the house and gardens there are sooooooooooooo beautiful. SO GO!!!
I'm currently on holiday in Bath and have just finished a little birthday invitation for a 21st. Here are some pics! - I've taken out the contact information on it in the photos, I know there are a lot of delinquents who read my blog so I don't want them crashing the party....
Hopefully I'll get a bit more work done this holiday too!

My new print is all ready to go on screen, I just need a spare weekend to knuckle down and print them and they're few and far between in May. It seems to be THE month for having a birthday...including mine.
I was really flattered to see my Seagull print on Nook and Cranny's staff pick last week. Thanks N&C!
Have a look at their blog here.

I've just about finished the wedding invitations I've been working on for the past few weeks. I'll get some photos posted up as soon as I can find the flippin camera charger (again!).
Now I can concentrate a bit more on doing some new prints for my etsy shop as its still looking as baron as it was when I first set it up.... Today I'm working on a new picture. It is going to be a new version of a wedding invitation I did a while ago. The one with the two birds tying a knot. Its doing the rounds a bit on Pinterest and is getting quite a few likes and repins so I've decided (with Amy and James' permission) to make it into a sellable screenprint.
I'm drawing a sparrow today, I decided that I should make this slightly different so that Amy and James' invitation is still unique to them. Here are the first stages.
GOOD NEWS TODAY! Nook and Cranny, a shop in Liverpool, are going to sell my prints! They are based in the Blue Coat gallery which coincidentally, my mum used to sell to in the 80s! My mum was a ceramicist (a very good one) when she left art school, she studied at the RCA and set up a business in my Grandma's potting shed once she graduated. For a few years she worked from here and sold her slipware(!?!? help me out mum...) all over the place including the Conran shop. She even presented a programme in the 80s about ceramics!
I'm super chuffed that they're going to be stocking my prints as they look like a really lovely shop and my work will be alongside some really brilliant artists.
So there we are. Second generation selling in the Bluecoat.Liberty Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15688289080689566880noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6364113011011165118.post-76451959742929194252012-03-22T18:30:00.002+00:002012-03-22T18:44:02.470+00:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zANsK9ZeO3U/T2ty0Ckx7bI/AAAAAAAAAOA/V75YuXV1nmw/s320/letterpress-1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722793989874249138" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4YMZx0ePB48/T2tyztrmZFI/AAAAAAAAAN0/g1pkRHtSQxI/s320/letterpress-2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722793984265708626" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hhVomkMCPJo/T2tyzO00t7I/AAAAAAAAANo/Kw9gRiwMqLw/s320/letterpress-9.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722793975982897074" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DgP5DQO7jzM/T2tyxkSMZXI/AAAAAAAAANc/gZJInanpAVI/s320/letterpress-10.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5722793947383489906" />
Adana Update!!!!

I've finally done something. But I don't have any ink so you'll have to squint to see it...

This was my very first attempt at typesetting, which is insanely fiddly. But as I do papercutting for hours on end at work (which I love) I found it quite theraputic. However I think if I'd really messed up more than once I'd have thrown it all across the room....
I've probably done a horrible job in the eyes of an experienced typsetter. But it worked, even if it is pretty basic. It was really satisfying after weeks of looking at my little machine in the corner of my eye whilst watching Man Vs Food, finally having all the equipment (bar ink) to make a start.

Looking forward to getting some inks and doing some proper printing!Liberty Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15688289080689566880noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6364113011011165118.post-11622426225504196652012-03-02T15:47:00.002+00:002012-03-02T15:59:03.953+00:00<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-TIEM6xrfKYM/T1DuP_5xyiI/AAAAAAAAANQ/GH88kiHgGdU/s320/colour%2Btests.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5715329885752379938" />
Please excuse the terrible photo, camera charger is currently hiding in a bag of wires so this is taken with my rubbish phone camera...

These are some colour samples of the latest wedding invitation I've been working on. Chris and Caroline wanted the whole day to reflect 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' I think partly because Caroline is a drama teacher and partly because it just generally sparks up beautiful imagery when you think of a midsummer wedding, good theme guys, well done!

I hope I've done it justice here and C&C's reactions certainly gave me the feeling that I had, as they hardly wanted any changes (this design is pretty much the first draft I sent)

I'm just finalising all of the little bits to go with it, RSVP's and information sheets, envelopes etc, then I will start printing for the invitations to be ready to send out it April.

I will post up proper photos when they're all done and looking a bit more profesh.

p.s.
Here are some business cards I made for Short Round Music. Short Round Music are a company who produce music for interactive media. They wanted some business cards to reflect their new website so I printed these in dark grey onto thick card with a striking golden yellow edge. Half of the cards were also printed on the back with a grey diagonal stripe and half were left blank for note making!!

They were also keen to include some illustrations of birds so on the front of this invite you can see two birds trying the knot. Get it? This theme runs throughout the whole invite which you can see in the knotted rope repeat in the lined envelope, the knotted rope around the border of the invitation and sillhouetted in the RSVP.

The invitations and RSVPs are hand-screen printed on thick 700gsm white card, with a contrasting black envelope which is lined in the same white (120gsm) paper and a information sheet with directions and accomodation tips for guests.
the RSVP postcard is printed with their address and pre-stamped for their guests to tick a box and put in the post.

Pretty excited for the wedding!Liberty Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15688289080689566880noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6364113011011165118.post-14993997732489987512011-02-28T20:38:00.003+00:002011-02-28T20:50:23.416+00:00Wedding Invites<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 253px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-45wCi98T13g/TWwKJthe-dI/AAAAAAAAAJE/zoJNm_Ht23E/s320/C%2526S1-11LoRes.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578845200360339922" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 225px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ca6oIr7OiAg/TWwKJOFt-GI/AAAAAAAAAI8/C5QkH04vGhM/s320/C%2526SLoRes.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578845191922382946" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 227px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-jxb3ByCAH-8/TWwKIz8itVI/AAAAAAAAAI0/rdYX5QSukFk/s320/C%2526S1-6LOres.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578845184904574290" />
I've just finished printing wedding invitations for the lovely Charlotte and Scott! The invitations are designed and hand screen printed by me on thick 700gsm card. Charlotte and Scott sent these out with a stamp on the postcard so their guests just have to tick a box and pop it in a postbox!
I'm currently working my next wedding invite and will post up pics as soon as they're finished!
If you would like your wedding invitations designed and printed by me, please send an email to liberty.wright@live.co.ukLiberty Rosehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15688289080689566880noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6364113011011165118.post-55634014893509558352010-11-21T23:20:00.003+00:002010-11-21T23:32:05.699+00:00Printing<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ST30z8MloN8/TOmrdGtv9eI/AAAAAAAAAIk/ccU1IBgc9NY/s320/IMG_0305.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542149332963161570" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ST30z8MloN8/TOmrcmu9S5I/AAAAAAAAAIc/LsDI-FQa4Vs/s320/IMG_0306.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542149324378295186" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ST30z8MloN8/TOmrcfTClTI/AAAAAAAAAIU/rm--zu-q00Q/s320/IMG_0309.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542149322382153010" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_ST30z8MloN8/TOmrZkmhXtI/AAAAAAAAAIM/ZgXwcUBd2TA/s320/IMG_0317.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542149272266432210" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_ST30z8MloN8/TOmrZBZeTAI/AAAAAAAAAIE/BRMPleBeK3Q/s320/IMG_0319.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5542149262816463874" />
For the past couple of days I've been busy printing for the exhibition I'm showing some work in starting this thursday.
The theme of the exhibition is secrets, so I've based my work on the novel The Secret Garden and painted a bunch of flowers.
This is probably the most ambitious print I've done so far since leaving university as it was 8 colours onto silk, but it worked suprisingly well and I'm really happy with how is looks so far.
I've still got a bit more printing to do and then have to get them framed... cutting a it a bit fine as always.
Anyway, here are some photos of me printing, hungover in a freezing cold studio with 3 jumpers on. So naturally, I look incredible.
The exhibition starts on this thursday 25th November until Saturday 27th at The Red Lion in Hoxton Square, London.
